Sunshine and fun times

We've had some unseasonably warm temperatures lately here in Alabama. I couldn't let these gorgeous 65-plus-degree January days go by without taking advantage of them so I ushered the girls outside where they could burn off some energy and take in some vitamin D.

Last year at this same time we were getting over having weathered a week's worth of snow that kept us locked in the house most of the time and on each others' nerves almost all of the time. Therefore, I could practically shout praises to Mother Nature for delivering to us this lovely weather.

The girls seem to be loving the opportunity to be outside among living creatures and fresh air, which is a wonderful change of pace. Since Santa brought them lots of electronic gadgets - such as a Nintendo DSi, a Leapster Scribble and Write and an Alphie Robot as well as a Kindle Fire for me - they,  and I, have spent too much time with our new toys, which is why it's even more important we seize this and any other chance we get to partake of the bounty that awaits us just out of front door.

Lola snapped this precious picture of Amelia, who is always willing to pause for a portrait.

The girls found two baskets of toys they'd forgotten about in the back of my van. They thoroughly enjoyed rediscovering these playthings.

Lola will never let a chance to wear a hat pass her by.

My two little monkeys.
